With only a week until Melbourne Cup, this newsletter is all about awesome camps and locations and horses! Starting with a ‘red tick’ camp at Newstead Racecourse. Located near Castlemaine, Victoria, it was only $10 per site per couple. It has EXCELLENT showers, BBQ shelter, large grounds, dump point AND ash pit. Just a heads up for all campers! The Crocodile Caravan Park at Lightning Ridge, NSW is now being managed by the Lighting Ridge Bowls Club Committee. A funny thing happened on the way to the Coopernook Hotel…

We’d ordered our lunch, found a table out the front of the pub with fabulous water views, and wandered over to the jetty for a look-see. On the opposite bank, a tinny was backed up to the edge, and plonked in the water. I thought the two fellows were off for a fish. But no, however, there was a plan. Favourite Walks – NSW/QLD border

Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse Walking past the Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse forms part of my favourite trek on the Tweed…  I start near the Coolangatta Surf Club, and walk south around Greenmount. If tides are right you can walk on the beach. I normally stay on the path, I love how the path here is extra wide.  Walk past Greenmount Surf Club, there are a few viewing platforms on Greenmount – you can even walk right up to the top of it. Australia’s calling!

I’m very excited – we have been wanting to catch up with two other families on a camping get-together, beach-side in April. Today it is booked, and all we have to do is pack when the time comes! Plus we’re taking our family outback this year (hurrah!) AND next weekend is a family reunion.
