We thoroughly recommend this lovely pub with friendly staff at Uki. Arriving late (we lost an hour crossing the border into NSW), fortunately the pub was still open for meals. I snagged a table on the verandah, and sipped our cold drinks whilst we waited for lunch to arrive. My niece said it was, ‘the best chicken schnitzel I had in a long time’. Our road trip to the snow, we planned to stop a night within an hour or two of Albury. Ganmain is almost south of West Wyalong – two towns we had never driven through, something we love to do – is travel on roads unknown to us. This night we hit the jackpot! Nestled In this beautiful district in northern NSW, the Imperial is a traditional country hotel offering old fashioned pub meals, a yarn or two from the locals and we hear that the food is excellent. We discovered a little gem, on a recent trip back from the snow: Valla Beach, NSW. Interestingly, we’re told it is half way between Sydney and Brisbane, just off the Pacific Highway. Stay at Valla Beach Tourist Park The local caravan park is NSW site 550 in Caravan Parks 5 or find it on the Camps Australia Wide App. it was the perfect stop over. We stopped at a quiet cabin on this trip. Although basic, it had all the essentials. There was plenty of space on the grounds, surrounded by bush, but it is further away from the shops
With all the changes on the Pacific Highway rest areas, it is good to know there’s a low cost option at South Grafton. Hotel Motel 5 is NSW no. 38 in CAMPS 10. Called “Hotel Motel 5 – Five Mile” on Facebook. This is free stop if you patronise the hotel. Self contained vehicles are preferred, enjoy access to toilets, showers, water, shade, and in the beer garden you’ll find tables and fire places. Pets are allowed and there is mobile coverage.
