I’ll be straight, this site isn’t budget priced. There are no facilities, adults only – it is self contained RVs only. But you get to camp near alpacas and llamas, and it is super close to Canberra! I visited Alpaca Magic recently and met the owner Glynda (she tells me like the Good Witch of the North, spelling that is.) Knowing my musicals, I guessed she was talking about Wizard of Oz. Her llamas and alpacas certainly thought she was special. Owner Glynda feeds her Alpaca’s Glynda gave us a little tour, there are a variety of paddocks to camp
Bonus Downs Station QLD image www.gallivantingoz.com.au Currently closed to camping. Owner/operators since 1990, Lyle and Madonna Connolly offer a genuine outback experience where you can be a part of living history. “It is the personal experience,” said Madonna. “People like the peace, quiet, history and learning about our way of life. The friendliness and openness, skies and sunsets… mainly they just love the freedom. It’s the relaxation and hospitality of the bush. “At night, guests gather at the smokehouse and we share the history of the property and our passion for the Outback.” As well as a dining area, camp
If you are looking for wide open spaces, and you are self contained, visit George and Rachael at Berringa Farmstay, Victoria. Camp within the pine trees with your own private fire pit – or closer to the house. Power and water are available for an extra fee. Pet friendly, there are only 5 sites across 5 acres, so it is very family friendly for bike riding and games. For animal lovers, look out for kookaburras, rosellas, magpies, black cockatoos and echidnas. Plus kids will love to meet the sheep, geese, chickens and ducks! And there are yabbies in the dam.
Carl, Lyn and Jose Update August 2022 – Myella is currently closed to camping. This article was written for the GO WEST Stay with a Farmer Promotion after the droughts. If there is no mustering we’ll go on a trail ride. We cater for

This article was written for the GO WEST and STAY WITH A FARMER promotion to help drought stricken farmers. We are pleased to say, Wandilla Station is now lush and green! Home of ‘Music in the Mulga’, founder and co-ordinator of this four-day country music festival, Carmel Meurant has lived in South West Queensland all her life. “It’s been running for 12 years – we hold it here on the property. People that come say there is no other music festival like it – it’s so friendly and relaxed.” Last year 1500 journeyed to the festival, said Carmel, “It costs
A big thanks to Lyn Hutton who recommended we add this Queensland farm stay to our list! Shiralee Clydesdales & Farm Stay is a camp where you can swim in the dam, sit by the fire, feed the farm animals and you can bring your pets, too! Lyn told us, “They have taken some effort to set out level and separate camp areas at the back of the property. It’s a work in progress – toilets, showers and ample rubbish bins are currently provided.” Plus Lyn says it is just $20 per site per night and only about 8kms out
