Free Stopover: Alwyn Francis Bridge, Queensland

Just south of Kingaroy, we’d recommend a shady, quiet campground – and beside the Stuart River (we’ve heard there may not be much water in it at the moment though).  Alwyn Francis Bridge at Taabinga, has toilets, picnic tables, mobile phone coverage and is pet friendly. There is plenty of room for big rigs. Note the time limit of 20 hours. It is QLD site 683 in Camps 10 or find it on the Camps Australia Wide App.  We had a lovely stop here. There is plenty of room so you don’t feel surrounded. Kumbia is only 17km away as

Adelaide Showground to host an RV park

The Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of South Australia (RA&HS) has revealed its development plans for the South-East corner of the Adelaide Showground. The new multi-purpose space can accommodate music festivals throughout the year, Cirque du Soleil, horses during the Royal Adelaide Show and a motorhome park at other times. RA&HS Chief Executive John Rothwell says the development has a high standard of design with the flexibility outside of Show-time to accommodate multiple events and services. “Whilst the $7 million investment for the Society is significant, it is expected the development will fully pay for itself within a ten-year period,”

Update your listing for Norseman RV Park, Western Australia

WA Site 38 (in Camps 10) – Norseman Recreation Reserve is CLOSED. It has been replaced by an RV area adjacent to the Recreation Reserve on the corner of Richardson and Mildura Streets with access from Mildura Street. Ken Skinner advised of these changes, and said, “The Norseman site has heaps of room and easy access but no facilities. It is about a 5 minute walk to the Ablution Block at the Information Centre and another minute or two to the town centre. There is no signage restricting the use of generators and it is not close enough to the

Walk through history at Moonta RV Overnight Stop

Overall view of the park with van – image G&J Gardiner Our roving CAMPS researchers, Judy and Graham Gardiner shared their stay at Kinto Park, Moonta.  Kinto Park is a large grassed shady area, right at the edge of Moonta, a lovely country town with historic buildings and pleasant parks.  Self-contained vehicles only. Showers and toilets are available a few blocks away.  Great place, but please note, it can get crowded and there is an Overflow Area across the road (please abide by the signs). It is for self-contained RVs, and please remember to give your donation for upkeep of this

Take me back to my caravan

Housework. Piles of washing. Mess. Groceries. One computer smouldering and one phone line down (our CAMPS line survived the storm). Then the ultimate – dealing with Telstra. Oh, take me back to last weekend, we scrambled three nights and managed to have our entire crew, and some of their mates, together.  If you are planning to stay around Southport or Main Beach, join the Surf Club. Main Beach Surf Club was across the road from the Main Beach Tourist Park – and it won me with their $18 member’s only steak, which included a standard drink at the bar. Times
