Camps Australia Wide - The caravan mirrors are back on!
Camping

Our hybrid from Mountain Trail RV

The caravan mirrors are back on! We’ve already had the question: what is a hybrid? When you are talking hybrid vans – it is a combination. It has the comforts of a caravan plus the access and easy towing of a camper trailer.  Because the van is only 2 metres wide (literally all bed) – it means its tyres follow the tyres of our 4WD. Heatley felt the difference as soon as we left Long Point RV in Burleigh Heads, QLD.  Another bonus of the width is that it will fit snugly beside our house. Something our previous ‘normal’ width caravan

Riverside at Riverglade Caravan Park, Tumut, New South Wales

This park has prime position, right on the Tumut River in the Visit Snowy Mountains region. You can fish, use the playground with swings, slippery dips and climbing bars. There is a grassed volleyball area, too. The BBQ area has seating for 40+ people, and has a lounge and TV, and bathrooms are recently refurbished.  There are lots of cabins to choose from, including some riverside. Pets are allowed out of peak periods. Find the listing in the Caravan Parks 5 book or the #campsaustraliawideapp Do and See: Walking tracks Festival of the Falling Leaf in March/April Yarrangobilly Caves Kosciuszko National

Edeowie Station in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia

Edeowie Station – image by Ross Plant by Guest Blogger Ross Plant Our evening in Peterborough was spent at the rest area just east of town. There are no facilities here and after yesterdays and last nights rain, the whole area is one big mud puddle. Peterborough in its heyday was an important link for trains carrying iron ore from Broken Hill to Port Pirie with about one hundred trains passing through daily. Just over an hour later we stopped in Orroroo. The main street has to be one of the widest street’s you will ever drive down. Several years

Camp On A Budget

Free lakeside relaxation at Boynedale Bush Camp, Queensland

We love the Boynedale Bush Camp for the views over Lake Awonga! This is a wildlife sanctuary, so pets are discouraged. Small dogs may be allowed on leads. There are drop toilets, picnic tables and fireplaces, with mobile phone coverage, a boat ramp and it is suitable for big rigs. Access best in dry weather only, as roads are unsealed. The large flat camping area has a lookout nearby, so you can take in the lake and Castletower National Park. You can camp for up to seven days within a thirty-day period. Please note that there is no electricity supply,

Sally Bower's Caravan
Camping

From a traveller – Sally Bower

Have been working furiously transferring all my information from Camp 3, 4 & 7 to 10.   ….the series of Camps Australia Wide have been a necessity on all our journeys, and have proven invaluable at times – I still prefer having Camps 10 on my lap to any other app or device.  I’m always behind the camera when we’re away, but this pic is one of my personal favourites … I took it a couple of years ago on one of our Central Highway crossings – it started raining at Docker River and didn’t stop until we were nearly

Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park

Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park is in the South Burnett region, QLD site 378 in the Caravan Parks 5 book or you can locate it on the #campsaustraliawideapp  Only 20 km north of Proston, it is a drawcard for anglers, campers, bird-watchers and water-sports enthusiasts. The dam was purpose-built in 1983 to provide a water supply to the Tarong Power Station. More recently, the former Wondai Shire Council and now the South Burnett Regional Council, has developed it into a major regional recreation area – with excellent fishing and amenities. What to bring If you love to fish, remember

Free Stopover: Alwyn Francis Bridge, Queensland

Just south of Kingaroy, we’d recommend a shady, quiet campground – and beside the Stuart River (we’ve heard there may not be much water in it at the moment though).  Alwyn Francis Bridge at Taabinga, has toilets, picnic tables, mobile phone coverage and is pet friendly. There is plenty of room for big rigs. Note the time limit of 20 hours. It is QLD site 683 in Camps 10 or find it on the Camps Australia Wide App.  We had a lovely stop here. There is plenty of room so you don’t feel surrounded. Kumbia is only 17km away as
