The Warrumbungle National Park Visitor Information Centre is a beauty! We love info centres for all they deliver on suggestions for what to see and do – but this is why we think this one is a must see if you are visiting the park:
Displays are interactive – you really do learn more by doing. It was no chore for our kids to bring me back facts here. Displays encourage touch – the fun facts and moving parts kept our crew occupied.
The views – you can look right out to volcanic remnants that the park is known for – ‘Breadknife’ and ‘Belougery Spire’. So bring your picnic!
Indigenous history – delve into the significance of the carved trees and why the “crooked mountain” land is sacred. You can also book into an Aboriginal guided tour.
Flora and Fauna – turn knobs, push and pull – you can see examples of wildlife and vegetation.
Dark Sky Park – with the nearby Siding Spring observatory, light pollution is minimised at the centre and national park. And did you know The Warrumbungles are Australia’s first Dark Sky Park? This means you can expect an exceptional stargazing and nocturnal environment.

The building itself is beautiful, and replaces the original after it was destroyed in 2013 bushfires. The stone walls not only look good, they regulate heat. In fact, it received a Sustainable Architecture award for this and other eco efficiencies, including water collection for their amenities.
