Nullarbor trip

Crossing the Nullarbor – our adventure from Western Australia into South Australia

On the end of our Big Lap, on limited time, we traversed The Nullarbor in two days. Kids were due back at school, we had businesses to run but were so keen to experience this famed road trip. We left Esperance and the beauty of Cape Le Grand National Park, through Grass Patch and the heart of Mallee Country. The Nullarbor Plain begins in Norseman, Western Australia – we saw camels here, which was pretty cool. “The Nullarbor” is an 1100km route. Here’s where we stopped: Balladonia was a lunch stop with a pretty multicoloured picket fenced playground. Oh, we were so

These other sites are all across the top of Australia. We take you to an outback town we really enjoyed, also in Queensland, and share what to

Budget priced and pet friendly: Doonvilla RV Park, Maryborough, Queensland

Maryborough, on the Fraser Coast of Queensland, really gets the thumbs up from us when it comes to free and budget camping options. Doonvilla RV Park is run by the Doon Villa Football Club Inc. Next to Maryborough Airport, Qld. Don’t worry – we couldn’t even hear the planes when we were there, the larger airport is in nearby Hervey Bay. It is great to be helping a local club for children! Here’s one of the comments from our Facebook page: “And all of the players are thankful to everyone who stays! You’re helping plenty of kids get outside and active

2022 Best Beach #17: Lake Wabby, K’gari Fraser Island, Queensland

Our daughter enjoyed her visit to K’gari and Lake Wabby this summer Image by Max Clarke K’gari is world heritage listed wonderland, and part of the Great Sandy National Park. The Lake Wabby walk starts a few minutes drive north from the village of Eurong, off the beach. We were astounded one of the kids spotted an echidna at the start of the track – and it stayed put while we all had a chance to look. We ditched our thongs for bare feet – it was sand all the way, and lots of steps! Lake Wabby is very different

Camping Sites in the Gold Coast Area

Camping sites in the Gold Coast area Camping and caravanning is one of the more rewarding ways to explore and experience a place. This is especially true in a country famous for the great outdoors. There are plenty of campsites tucked away – but if you don’t know where they are you can easily miss them. People often assume that it won’t be difficult to find a place to stopover on a budget but soon discover it can be a lot more expensive than anticipated. Or worse, they can’t find somewhere to stop and continue driving when they are tired.
