Take a 900 km doggo friendly island road trip

Sarah from @allthegear.illustrated took a 900km van trip with her pup for “solitude and sunshine; connection and clarity…wide open spaces and ocean air to breathe and adventure amongst”…and said it was perfect! She even saw a cane train for the first time, and took her dog, Nessie, on a boat.  Starting in Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, here where Sarah and her van Brian’s eight days were spent: MV Sarawak, Inskip Point, Rainbow Beach MV Sarawak, Inskip Point, Rainbow Beach – image Sarah from @allthegear.illustrated At Inskip Peninsula Recreation Reserve, you are right near K’gari Fraser Island, and north of

The lawn was well tended, and the gardens looked lovely. Ranger Rob Every day, he opens the gate around 6am and closes it about 8pm. It is only 4 km from the grounds, but it is a rough,

New budget camp: Buxton Bush Retreat, near Childers, Queensland

Kerrie and Brian have opened up their 17 acre property at Buxton, near Childers for camping. It is half way between Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, Queensland with 8 dedicated camping areas set amongst natural bushland.  Brian said, “The camp sites are all flat, fully grassed and well maintained. Each campsite has its own fire pit and an initial supply of firewood (plenty more available in the ‘bush’ areas).  The campsites are only suitable for fully self contained motorhomes, RVs and Caravans as there is no power, water or shower toilet facilities on site (as yet).” The couple live on site

Budget priced and pet friendly: Doonvilla RV Park, Maryborough, Queensland

Maryborough, on the Fraser Coast of Queensland, really gets the thumbs up from us when it comes to free and budget camping options. Doonvilla RV Park is run by the Doon Villa Football Club Inc. Next to Maryborough Airport, Qld. Don’t worry – we couldn’t even hear the planes when we were there, the larger airport is in nearby Hervey Bay. It is great to be helping a local club for children! Here’s one of the comments from our Facebook page: “And all of the players are thankful to everyone who stays! You’re helping plenty of kids get outside and active

2022 Best Beach #17: Lake Wabby, K’gari Fraser Island, Queensland

Our daughter enjoyed her visit to K’gari and Lake Wabby this summer Image by Max Clarke K’gari is world heritage listed wonderland, and part of the Great Sandy National Park. The Lake Wabby walk starts a few minutes drive north from the village of Eurong, off the beach. We were astounded one of the kids spotted an echidna at the start of the track – and it stayed put while we all had a chance to look. We ditched our thongs for bare feet – it was sand all the way, and lots of steps! Lake Wabby is very different

Camping Sites in the Gold Coast Area

Camping sites in the Gold Coast area Camping and caravanning is one of the more rewarding ways to explore and experience a place. This is especially true in a country famous for the great outdoors. There are plenty of campsites tucked away – but if you don’t know where they are you can easily miss them. People often assume that it won’t be difficult to find a place to stopover on a budget but soon discover it can be a lot more expensive than anticipated. Or worse, they can’t find somewhere to stop and continue driving when they are tired.
