A good percentage of camping and caravanning travellers stop at Caravan Parks in Australia. There are thousands to choose from, and you do not need to be self-sufficient. This means they are suitable for all types of camping, from swags, rooftop tents, tents, camper trailers, campers, motorhomes and caravans.
Few have room for Big Rigs, however caravan parks also offer cabins or glamping. Many caravan parks are located in idyllic spots – close to town or beachside.
Many campers start their adventures in caravan parks as you have familiar comforts and facilities from home. Families can seek out extra attractions like water parks, jumping pillows and playgrounds – which means you can enjoy a get together and not even leave the park!

Andamooka Caravan & Camping Ground, SA has a new name: Apoma Camping Ground, and it is now only $4 per person, per night. If electricity is required, it is $12 which covers the fee for up to 2 people. (Honesty box onsite.) Extra people are $4 each, showers included. There are only 2 pillars with 4 connections each and there is a 9th connection on the outside wall of the ablution building. Lucky for us that we have a generator, as the last connection was taken just as we pulled in. Also, the location of the source to obtain water is
Established after the First World War, Patchewollock is a small town in North-West Victoria with a population of less than 200. Located 41 km SW of Ouyen or 49 km N of Hopetoun, “Patche” is home to an amazing silo art piece by Brisbane-based street artist Fintan Magee, sometimes referred to as the ‘Australia’s Banksy’. The giant mural depicts local sheep and grain farmer, Nick ‘Noodle’ Hulland, chosen for his ‘classic farmer looks’ and his strong connection to the farming community. Patchewollock Caravan Park (formerly Patche Sunset Retreat) has closed! However you can still camp there, it is now called
It was raining heavily as we drove towards Thargomindah. Roads had been busy up to Eulo, as the Big Red Bash was coming to Birdsville. We were looking forward to some indoor meals, a laundry for our muddy clothes and warming up… Thargomindah’s Explorers Caravan Park gave us just that! We called ahead and snagged the last powered site – perfectly positioned outside the warm camp kitchen We parked up and explored town – stopping into the Thargomindah Pub for a hot lunch – yum! Make sure you check out the Visitor Centre, too. Explorers Caravan Park is huge, see more
by CAMPS Ambassadors, Overland Exposure Fowlers Bay is very small coastal town that has sand dunes, a jetty, some whales in the right season and that’s about it! We did stay at the ONLY FULLY OFF GRID CARAVAN PARK in Australia and the owners were lovely. If you plan to stay here, just remember they run everything off grid so just like you and us when free camping need to be mindful of water and electricity use. The playground was fab and the Ringneck Parrots were chatty too! There is a communal fire pit that is lit each evening. OH
East Gippsland Shire Council is committed to having the Caravan Park at Omeo reopened by the 14th of April just before Easter. Some areas of the park will still have temporary closures and no cabins will be available. A flood in early January caused well-documented damage to the park and amenities, local roads and other public facilities such as Livingstone Park and the pump track. Council has made remedial action a priority in Omeo and surrounds. General Manager Business Excellence, Peter Cannizzaro said it was likely to take up until Easter for flood remedial works to be completed at the
