Tasmania is a land of stunning coastline, flourishing wildlife, rich convict heritage and small friendly towns. There is plenty to see and travelling to your various destinations is an experience in itself with scenic views almost everywhere you go. If you are travelling on a budget you can find some good free campsites scattered throughout the state.

Lilydale Falls, Tasmania

Lilydale Falls Reserve – North East Tasmania

Oceanfront FREE CAMP: Green Point Beach, Marrawah, Tasmania

Here is a beautiful coastal campsite in the rugged west coast of Tasmania. It is free, pet friendly and protected from the wind. Metres down the road, you’re at the beach! The park here has toilets, cold showers, a playground, sheltered BBQ and picnic tables right over the beach with AMAZING views.  There are more picnic tables in the camp area (see the video below). Suited for motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers and tents. Bring drinking water. Cold outdoor showers. Penguin is west of Ulverstone and Devonport, a gorgeous place to visit with two free and one donation campsite. All beachfront to the Bass Strait! If you are looking for scenery, this is your spot. There’s good camping, fishing, swimming, surfing and diving, as well as wonderful views across Great Oyster Bay to Freycinet Peninsula. Today we listed two new campsites at beautiful Tullah in Tasmania. Both are pubstays and within close proximity to each other. Tullah Lakeside Lodge This pub stay is right on the banks of Lake Rosebery. They offer camping for Caravans, RVs and camper trailers, with power, water and shared amenities. Photo credit No Boundaries Petal Point is a primitive camp situated high on an escarpment looking north across Bass Strait. Situated in the less travelled north east corner of Tasmania, we loved it because of its remoteness and panoramic views. Scottsdale Northeast Park, Tasmania is a freedom favourite

The Scottsdale Northeast Park was so busy, I dropped in to see why it was so popular over the Australia Day weekend. I said hello to a great couple from Gippsland, Ron and  Lee Harwood. I caught them enjoying a breakfast of pancakes and local blueberries. Along with another camper Joy Bradford we happily chatted for ages, enjoying the morning sunshine.
