Can you use it off line? Yes

Do you need the book? No, but they work really well together as the books provides a different experience.

Can the general public update things on the app like other camping apps? Yes, you can review sites and send through updates.  Recent updates make this even easier!

When you purchase the app is there any other costs to keep it current please? It is a yearly subscription of $9.99.  No other costs at all.
