Tips on Touring Tasmania

Ezra from the UK, is hiring a motorhome, and organising a week’s camping in Tasmania. He said places are booking out already, and was hoping for some advice…  Now, we’re just back from Tasmania and it is no surprise bookings are busy. Especially around that time. We had trouble, too – but there was still room in free camps. Firstly – here is our latest article that is perfect for you. I would recommend choosing one corner of Tasmania (depending on where you fly into Tasmania), otherwise in a week you’ll spend a lot of time driving. Many free camps

Bright Victoria - Alpine
Family Friendly Fun

One of the prettiest places in Australia – Bright, Victoria

The Ovens River is up! The last time we visited Bright in the Alpine region of Victoria was earlier this year – there was an annual cycle event. People everywhere, and car parks were scarce. What are we kidding – every time we are here the tourist town is pumping! However we still found a delicious lunch, and a picnic spot with a view.  Heatley’s mum and sister were there this week and they were awed by the force of the Ovens River. His Mum said: “Bright is the prettiest place. Bright Riverside Caravan Park was lovely, too – with great

What you need to travel Australia

Cape Keraudren WA – image Ken Herne From Ken Herne: “I hope to provide some inspiration to those people debating whether you need this and that in order to travel around Australia. My wife and I have just returned home after completing 26,000 klm and 6 months touring around Western Australia, NT, SA and Victoria living in our 18’ 1964 Wayfarer caravan. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We free and low cost camped the majority of the time, left the TV and generator at home and did not have air conditioning and did not miss any of

Aussie Camping 101: Dos and Don’ts

Here’s some basic courtesies with camping – if we all followed them, then perhaps more FREE camping sites would open up, and certainly less would close down. 1. Unless it is unavoidable – camp in a designated camping area or caravan park. But definitely if a place says NO CAMPING then please don’t. Remember with rest areas with “no camping” you are still entitled to stop for fatigue breaks in your car or RV. It is not a place to hang out clothes or set up camp. Do follow signage – and remember it may change.  2. Abide by time

Crossing the Nullarbor – our adventure from Western Australia into South Australia

On the end of our Big Lap, on limited time, we traversed The Nullarbor in two days. Kids were due back at school, we had businesses to run but were so keen to experience this famed road trip. We left Esperance and the beauty of Cape Le Grand National Park, through Grass Patch and the heart of Mallee Country. The Nullarbor Plain begins in Norseman, Western Australia – we saw camels here, which was pretty cool. “The Nullarbor” is an 1100km route. Here’s where we stopped: Balladonia was a lunch stop with a pretty multicoloured picket fenced playground. Oh, we were so
