ANZAC Day Memories in Outback Queensland

Colin Toll is a member of our Facebook Group “I Love Camping Australia Wide“. He was a regular soldier, an officer, graduated from what is now ADFA and Duntroon, fought in two wars, resigned as a young Lieutenant Colonel while commanding all the Leopard tanks in the Army.  As a 25 year old he raised a tank squadron of 120 men here in Australia and took to Vietnam in 1969.  A bit over a third were casualties.  He says: “I am in awe of what soldiers do.  So, ANZAC Days are special to me. Bucket List

My Melbourne Cup experience

The Melbourne Cup is just one of those iconic Aussie events that is on bucket lists everywhere.  Despite the rain, it lived up to our expectations. Mum and I arrived just before the deluge. Unfortunately our ticketed seat was right upstairs, with no cover. We managed to stay dry downstairs – except our feet and heels! Pies, festivals and a new camp ground

On the Mother’s Day weekend we took our two eldest and girlfriend, with some great mates to the Festival by the C in Hervey Bay.  Mental as Anything, Baby Animals, Killing Heidi and Mark Seymour too. So many favourites: Hunters and Collectors “Throw your arms around me”, Mental’s “Live it Up” but best of all – “Khe Sahn” followed by Jimmy’s
