New budget camp: Buxton Bush Retreat, near Childers, Queensland

Kerrie and Brian have opened up their 17 acre property at Buxton, near Childers for camping. It is half way between Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, Queensland with 8 dedicated camping areas set amongst natural bushland. Brian said, “The camp sites are all flat, fully grassed and well maintained. Each campsite has its own fire pit and an initial supply of firewood (plenty more available in the ‘bush’ areas). The campsites are only suitable for fully self contained motorhomes, RVs and Caravans as there is no power, water or shower toilet facilities on site (as yet).” The couple live on site

Wow, what an amazing spot in Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park! Bec from Look The World In The Eye has been travelling Australia for six months when they came across this beauty in Tasmania. They said, “Unbeatable position! This is one of the nicest spots we’ve camped!” “$13 for unpowered ‘tent’ sites (not all suitable to sleep in a car as some car parks sloped – we were in site #30 which was great for our van) or $16 for power and water (all powered sites suitable for caravans).” This site is Richardsons Beach, just outside Coles Bay – beside Ranger

Maryborough, on the Fraser Coast of Queensland, really gets the thumbs up from us when it comes to free and budget camping options. Doonvilla RV Park is run by the Doon Villa Football Club Inc. Next to Maryborough Airport, Qld. Don’t worry – we couldn’t even hear the planes when we were there, the larger airport is in nearby Hervey Bay. It is great to be helping a local club for children! You know what they say about an apple a day! Carmel Cider Co Camp is our Ambassador Daniel’s happy place and Perth’s best kept camping secret – where you can camp amongst the apple trees or in the paddock and have a cidery down the driveway! It is just $20 a night, per vehicle, for an unpowered site. Ambassador Manda says the owners are lovely and there are toilets on site too (no showers or power) and it is only 25 minutes from Perth! There are minimal facilities, a dam for kayaking / swimming, cidery open for sales and tasting.
