Budget camping sites in South Australia

Camping and caravanning has to be the BEST way to experience Australia. If you want to travel longer, then seek out budget camp sites that are easy on the wallet.

Thankfully, private campgrounds are abundant and often council owned or community run by volunteers. The camp site might be next door to a business or in their carpark – close to a town centre and facilities. Alternatively, you could find yourself at a bush camp, or beside a river. They may even offer power, toilets and showers.

Selected grey symbol PAID camp sites are more expensive. These tend to have more facilities or may be located in amazing places.

Just use the symbols or the filters to find them in our comprehensive guide books and Camps Australia Wide App!

Here’s a preview of campsites and caravan parks we have found with 30 years of research! Happy camping…

Experience beach camping at its best Griffiths Island

Experience beach camping at its best!

Only two more weeks until Christmas! I can’t wait for catch-ups with mates and BEACH CAMPING. The table will be full of family – and Christmas treats, including the cocktails (and mocktails) below. One of our favourite beach towns this year is Port Fairy, Vic. Griffiths Island (pictured) has the BEST beach hike – with wildlife, boardwalks and lighthouse. TIP: We stopped at Southcombe Caravan Park and dined at a new bar and eatery, The Sentinel. I soaked up the first live music we’d come across in months of bush travels!
