Your opinion wanted for the Gympie RV strategy, Queensland

Kandanga has the most popular council owned freedom RV stop in the region I first listened to the RV strategy at a Gympie Regional Council meeting, here is a round up of what was discussed, and the next draft RV strategy. Double the number of council controlled sites Gympie Regional Council RV strategy proposed six new RV sites which add to their six recognised existing sites that are council owned or controlled. On rural locations, I heard, “We want people in these towns”.  On the coastal site suggested, a councillor asked if we needed to have one. Would it take tourist dollars away?

Lake Placid Tourist Park, Queensland – image Overland Exposure Just north of Cairns in Queensland, in 14 acres of tropical rainforest there’s a well kept park waiting for you. Thanks to our CAMPS Ambassadors, Manda and Daniel for sending these wonderful photos. They said it was a: “Stunning location surrounded by rainforest, mountains and Lake Placid/Barron River just out the gate. Nice sites, only just big enough for our rig, welcoming and helpful staff. Melon industry encourages travellers to become Biosecurity Champions

Help farmers with biosecurity as you travel

As Australians grapple with the continued threat and impacts of the Covid-19 virus, the local melon industry is hoping the new sense of understanding around the spread of disease will be applied to the horticultural sector. As part of a broader biosecurity project, Melons Australia has developed a video series to highlight the part that travelling holiday makers can play in maintaining strong on-farm biosecurity. The three videos explain in simple terms the easy steps travellers can take to make sure they don’t unwittingly take pests or diseases into melon growing areas of Australia. Melons Australia Biosecurity Officer Joanna Embry

Best for bragging: WWII Gorrie Airfield, Northern Territory

WWII Gorrie Airfield via Instagram: @philreit There are absolutely no facilities – but how many people can say they’ve slept on an airfield? It is suitable for big rigs and pets, camp in dry weather only – and enjoy the views! This little strip of history was the Territory’s largest aircraft service and repair base during World War II. It is hard to imagine that in late 1943, during its peak of operations, it was the base for 6,000 service personnel. Back then, staff could attend the open-air picture theatre (which seated 2000), or relax at the boxing ring, four

Holiday Here This Year!

Yesterday questions were posed about ‘should I travel now with the COVID-19 or Coronavirus?’ on both our new Facebook group: ‘I Love Camping Australia Wide‘ and the Camps Australia WIde Facebook page.  It was pretty well unanimous! Don’t delay.” “Life is short, don’t wait.” “..stock up on what you need…pack that van and go.. get away from the craziness…relax by a river, sip wine and enjoy in peace with your puppies..” “Safer in the bush than in the crowds” “…Load
