Lake Mason Homestead, Western Australia is now a free camp!

This former pastoral station, Lake Mason Homestead is now a free camp, there is free entry to the remote Lake Mason Conservation Park and you cannot book sites. However, no pets allowed.  The Parks and Wildlife Service have advised that Lake Mason does have a flushing toilet,  hot donkey shower and a firepit. BYO drinking water – untreated bore water is also available.  Travelling with  their CAMPS book, Jane Duinmeyer recently visited Lake Mason and thought we would enjoy their photos: “We laughed and laughed at the facilities, or lack thereof and the shower… …and toilets were our favourite.” “We love your book

Camp near the Flying Boats at Lake Boga, Victoria

I had not even heard of Flying Boats – you can also camp on Lake Boga down the road! As you can see from our photos, rain prevailed the day we visited. When the weather is miserable – campers know it’s a good time to shop, eat out or visit a museum… Lake Boga was the centre of a secret military camp in World War II. Heatley loves his war history, so I added the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum to our trip! It is a very hands-on museum – you can pop your head into the planes. Back and

You’ll meet Ranger Rob – who was so helpful and full of knowledge. He and his wife were out today whipper snipping. They live onsite and really do take pride in the campground – it shows! The lawn was well tended, and the gardens looked lovely. Ranger Rob Every day, he opens the gate around 6am and closes it about 8pm. It is only 4 km from the grounds, but it is a rough,

Lake Leslie Dam Lookout, Queensland
Camping

2 camps at Lake Leslie, Warwick, Queensland

Lake Leslie Dam Lookout Heatley has never seen more water in Leslie Dam! I remember a picnic at Lake Leslie (as it is widely known) with his extended family (they lived locally). The creek area we all swam at has ‘no swimming’ signs there now – but it is still a lovely picnic area. We started at the lookout. For us, it was a perfect breakfast stop, as it wasn’t busy. We walked the dam wall… The spillway was super impressive! There is a nice picnic area here near the dam wall (with amenities). Make sure you stop and say

UPDATE on Menindee Lakes Caravan Park, New South Wales

Image by Lesley Meade of nearby Lake Pamamaroo (from I Love Camping Australia Wide Facebook Group) Please update your books! Menindee Lakes Caravan Park, which is located on a Crown land reserve on the eastern shores of Lake Menindee, was brought under the management of the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Crown Lands in August 2020. The managers have had to make a lot of changes, there is no longer a dump point, cabins, camp kitchen, BBQs, picnic tables or shade! Water is now non potable, and the amenities for people with disabilities are not at the required standard.
